                I came to a bar longue in the basement with Mr.Robert. I’ve some here several times with Father before; it seems like a different place when I’m with Mr.Robert. We sat on a couch. I looked up Robert’s face and he was looking around the bar.

Robert: “…”

Clara: (Something is bothering him) “What’s going on Robert?”

Robert: “No, I’m sorry. I know I’m the one who invited you but I feel a little nervous.”

                Robert smiled like a boy and I blushed.

Clara: “I’m surprised my parents asked you to pick me up just to have some alone time.”

Robert: “They must be happy because you’re considering accepting the offer. Mike is also coming back soon. It is delightful.”

                I looked down because I heard my brother’s name. I sipped the martini glass in front of me so he wouldn’t notice I was upset.

Yuri: “Oh, Y-You are...!”

???: “How long are you going to stand there? Come in!”

Yuri: “Y-Yes!”

As soon as I had entered, the security guard bowed and closed the door. The two of us were left alone in the room.

???: “I see you like to quietly stare at people when you enter rooms.”

Yuri: “Oh… Thank you very much for yesterday.”

???: “What are you talking about?”

Yuri: “I bumped into you, and you picked up the magazine for me…”

???: “Did you find a good job?”

He looked at me wickedly and grinned in amusement.

???: “Yuri Higashikuni. You’re 28 years old. 3 people are in your family, a father who owns his business, a mother who helps run it and you. No siblings.”

Yuri: “What?”

???: “After graduating from university, you started working at your current job at the publicity agency as a secretary. Recently, the father’s business failed. You are $500.000 in debt."

                Surprised by his response, I asked him again. He gave me odd-looking smile, turned his back, and started walking away.

???: “You will understand soon.”

Yuri: “Wait…”

                Unable to rum after him, I just stared at his back while holding on to the Night-Time Job Search Magazine.

Yuri: (What happened yesterday? I don’t know anybody handsome like him… But I have a feeling that I’ve definitely met him somewhere before.)

The next day, while going about my job as usual, I couldn’t stop thinking about what had happened the day before I thought that he might be in show-business but I couldn’t think of anybody like him. He had handsome features which could pass for an actor…

                I was walking towards my room, slightly bending forward.

Clara: (I agreed to the offer but maybe I should’ve asked for some time to think over.

???: “Clara”

                I was called by my name, it was Mother approaching towards me while touching her hair.

Mother: “When did you get so close to him?”

Clara: “What?”

Mother: “I mean Robert. How come he is so eager to be with you, not only a trainer but also a secretary?”

I had bought an issue of Night-Time Job Search Magazine at the corner store. Holding it in my hand, I was walking toward home.

Yuri: “I have debt of… $500,000…”

                This had all happened within the last few days. My father, who had his own business, solemnly broke the news to my mother and me.

Father: “It might be impossible to sustain my business.”

                It was not a very large business, but I thought he was doing reasonably well. After graduating from university, I had started working for a publicity agency as a secretary, and was never involved in it.

Chapter 1

Mike: “Clara, goodbye.”
                My brother mumbled with a cold face and turned his back to me.
Clara: “Wait, Mike… I…!”
Mike: “I don’t want you to think I’m your brother. I thought… You were different from Mother. I’ll never wanna see your face again.”
Clara: “No, Mike, you’re misunderstanding… That was…!”
                My legs were as heavy as lead and I couldn’t reach my brother. I was surprised to see my ankles were sinking. As if I was drowning in a pond, my body was being swamped.
Clara: “What’s  going on… Wait, Mike.”

                My brother couldn’t hear me, or he pretended not to hear me. He didn’t turn back and left me alone, fading away. I was drowning and struggling to escape, tried to reach my brother. I couldn’t even breath as my neck was sinking and it was the matter of time that I got completely drowned.
